Fourth of July Celebration in Cayucos

There is no doubt that Cayucos is the place to be for a family fun patriotic celebration of America’s birthday. Fourth of July has always been a big celebration in Cayucos, starting with sand castle contest on the beach, followed with a parade, bingo, and ending with the traditional fireworks off of the Cayucos Pier.

Preparations for the day start very early with locals and visitors lending a hand in setting up the balloon arches that decorate Ocean Avenue with the colors of our flag, red, white, and blue.

Sandcastle contest 5am – 8am

Feeling creative, come and be a part of the Sandcastle contest that is held every year from 5am to 8am next to Cayucos Pier. This year we so many great artist creating their sand sculptures

Walking down Ocean Avenue you will see a sea of chairs that have been set up as early as the day before to secure a front row seat to the 4th of July parade. Independence Day parade starts at 10am from the south side of town down Ocean Avenue. Each year you are sure to see many classic cars, hear local bands, church choirs, Cayucos Elementary steel drum band, and the usual show stopper floats from Sea Shanty and Nana’s Bunch.

Bingo & Pull Tabs at Vets hall tents

Proceeds from this fun event benefit the Cayucos Lionness Club, including Hardie Park Pool and equipment, swimming programs, and Jr. lifeguard scholarships.

Firework show on the Cayucos Pier

The firework show is the event that tops off the night in Cayucos for everyone on 4th of July. Cayucos Chamber puts on the firework show and with help from money raised during May Madness ticket sales. If you are interested in attending May Madness it is held on Saturday of Memorial day weekend and tickets can be purchased at Sea Shanty restaurant.
