Let the Cayucos Fireworks Begin

June 30th, 2015

We are so excited to celebrate America’s 239th Birthday! Cayucos will be one of only two places in San Luis Obispo County to host a fireworks show. What better place to watch the fireworks than from the beachfront lawn area of the Shoreline Inn.

Here is a schedule of the activities that will be going on during the 4th of July weekend.

If you are an early riser, make sure to take a walk down the beach near the pier where sand artists will begin to sculpt sand art at 5am.

At 10 am begins the annual 4th of July Parade on Ocean Avenue. We can only imagine whatwill float down Ocean street this year. In the past we have had a UCLA alumni marching band, Cayucos Surf Rider organization with their dancing surfers (board and all), belly dancers, and even a Mermaid float to promote the Cayucos Sea Glass Festival and Mermaids in March.

My personal favorite is Bingo at the Vet’s hall and it’s nice to see the proceeds benefit Cayucos school students with free swimming lessons and Junior Lifeguard scholarships.

There have been several inquiries regarding how to reserve a room for a future stay during 4th of July. Ernie and Kathy Martin have been staying at the Shoreline Inn for many years and have a standing reservation as do several other regular guests. In order to get on a wait list for the 4th of July, please send an email to info@cayucosshorelineinn.com no earlier than July 5th. You must include the days you would like to stay (3 day minimum) and how many people in your party.

This year there will be one major change leading up to the parade on Saturday. Chairs may not be put out on the parade route before 6pm on Friday, July 3rd. This will be strictly enforced, as it seems to have become a safety issue over the past years. Signs will be posted as a reminder.

We hope that where ever you may be celebrating America’s 239th birthday, you are safe and that you enjoy the day. Don’t forget you can always tune into our live beach cam if you want to view the firework show from the comfort of your own home.
