A Couple Of People Sitting At A Table With A Dog By A Fire

Is Cayucos Beach dog-friendly?

Yes. Dogs are welcome in Cayucos and on Cayucos State Beach, but they must remain leashed and under control unless posted signs state otherwise.

Shoreline Inn…on the beach sits directly beside the sand, so beach walks start steps from your room with no car required.

For off-leash time, head a few miles south to Toro Creek Dog Beach, also known as Morro Bay Dog Beach. This mile-long stretch near Highway 1 and Toro Creek Road gives well-behaved dogs room to run and play under voice control.

Bring fresh water, waste bags and a towel for sandy paws. Around tide pools and rocky areas, keep your pup close and give wildlife plenty of space.

Quick Tips for Visiting Cayucos Beach With Your Dog

  • Beach access: Step directly onto the sand from Shoreline Inn. No car required.
  • Leash rules: Keep dogs leashed and under control on Cayucos State Beach unless posted signs state otherwise.
  • Off-leash time: Visit Toro Creek Dog Beach near Highway 1 and Toro Creek Road, a short drive south.
  • Best time to walk: Head out early or near sunset for cooler sand and lighter crowds.
  • What to pack: Bring fresh water, waste bags and a towel for sandy paws.
  • Protect local wildlife: Keep dogs close around tide pools, shorebirds and marine mammals.
  • Grab a bite: Several dog-friendly Cayucos patios are within walking distance of the hotel.

Stay on the Beach With Your Dog

Every room at Shoreline Inn…on the beach welcomes dogs, with a maximum of two dogs per room. We add an extra quilt and water bowl to help your pup settle in.

The hotel sits directly on Cayucos State Beach, close to the pier and downtown Cayucos. That means fewer car rides and more time for sandy walks, salty air and naps after a full day outside.

Dogs may not be left unattended in guest rooms or on balconies and patios. Pet fees vary by length of stay and room type. Review our current pet policy before booking for complete details.

Local tip: For golden-hour photos without crowds, arrive ~30 minutes before sunset and walk just south of the pier.
