5 Reasons Cayucos is the place to be on 4th of July
June 29th, 2016
4th of July is not only an exciting day in Cayucos, but the most celebrated day as well. The community wakes up to the main street decorated with red, white and blue balloon arches. Family and friends take over Cayucos Beach. The day is filled with fun events such as a sand sculpture contest, parade, BBQ, bingo, and of course our spectacular firework show. This year is America’s 240th birthday and we are looking forward to celebrating with everyone who will be in Cayucos.
1.Sand Sculpture Contest- 5am-8am, Cayucos Beach- Artists of all ages come together to compete with unique sand sculptures. Come early to see the artists create their masterpieces. Here are a few sculptures from previous years.
4th of July Parade- 10am Ocean Ave- Bring the whole family to view this fun filled parade. Every year locals and visitors look forward to new fun floats, music, and classic cars. I always look forward to the float created by Sea Shanty Restaurant, which is kept in hiding until the 4th.
Cayucos Lion’s Club BBQ- 11am-3pm- Enjoy delicous tri-tip and chicken at the Vets Hall.Bingo & Pull tabs- This fun, fast paced activity is held in the tent next to the Vet’s hall from 1-4pm. Make sure to bring cash for your bingo cards and pull tabs. All proceeds go to local children’s programs including junior lifeguards and free swimming lessons.
Firework Show- 9pm Cayucos Pier- Arrive early to get a spot on the beach. Bring a blanket, lawn chair, and a sweater. Shoreline Inn guests have a front row seats to the firework show!
